Fuel consumption - 1.3 CDTI
#1
I've got a 1.3 CDTI and the fuel consumption seems really quite bad to me? The car is completely standard atm, yet out of half a tank I'm only getting 150-160 miles? I haven't filled it up yet, and I don't really do it unless I need to, but I can't see why it's so bad. The car has FSH and was serviced 11 months ago. Any ideas?

Just running round town will always give you low MPG.

My 2.0cdti sits around 200-300 miles from a tank if I'm running round town. If I go on a run I'll get 600 to a tank.

I'm disappointed with my 13 plate 1.4 petrol. Nearly £60 for a tank of petrol, gets me about 300 miles.

Previously driving a 05 1.6 focus. Tank of petrol just over £50. Got me 320 miles...

How is a newer car with a smaller engine with an apparently bigger tank, worse?!

Because the Astra-J is a heavy car.
