Nice updates.

We're the HIDs a conversion of your existing clusters?

Need to check my battery size actually, thanks for the reminder. As I intend to run LED spots for extended periods for specific uses, I've also been looking at installing an aux power source in the boot so I can grab a battery from the house and take it with me when going out and know I'm not leaving myself stranded in dark skies for the night. Where I go, mobiles don't work

Thank you! they were converted from a set of @rusty2009 old headlights! Ha. They've been around a bit as they were owned by two other people also! Need some brighter bulbs in though as they're probably no brighter than my old halogens at present. Beam pattern is better though.

So you're wanting to charge batteries in the boot? What kind of batteries?

Also where were you thinking of mounting the LED spots then? Seems like a nifty idea

Battery may or may not make a difference in my situation but something ain't right with my car and it keeps not staring every day... Hoping it's the battery now I've gone and replaced it and not the alternator!

Fingers crossed for the battery.

Not really charging in the boot - I am happy to charge them in the house, but to pick up a battery or two, hookup with something in the boot and use them as auxiliary power instead of the car battery.

The main purpose is:

1) putting spots into the tailgate to light up the ground underneath the tailgate & the surround area for when sorting the dog out in the dark.

2) some of the spots will be red in colour. I am an amateur astronomer and drive out into them hills up here for very dark skies and good views, but you need light to see what you are doing. Decided this would be an excellent way to do it & I can also use the car boot as a comfy seat when taking photos etc.

3) just received the rear view camera, will be fitting that (the Mrs has been spoiled by the Toyota having it for years, and the astra is over a metre longer.) I noticed when reversing at a popular dog walking area I could not see a thing. So I decided with the rear camera going in, the aftermarket parking sensors are being replaced with 4 LED spots for lighting up behind me when reversing in these many many dark places.

Don't think I posted this mod back when I did it! But I installed the bonnet gas struts using a kit purchased from Black Ice (See pics).

Awesome mod and worth the small cost and 15 mins it took to install

Typical!! I’m not on Facebook think I paid £39 but it was worth it. I’ve got uprated struts on the tailgate too for automatic lifting

What did you use mate?
I thought on that too. Isn't it difficult to close now?

I bought some uprated struts and yes it’s a bit more difficult to close but worth it for the practical side of opening the tailgate with your hands full, plus it looks good
