caliper please help issues?? front

Front Caliper issues?? - Help please
#1
Hey guys.

I had by car jacked up in the air with both calipers showing the pistons. When I pressed brakes only the passengers side piston would come out. When I original took calipers off the both retracted fine it's just that it won't come out??

The passenger side brake disc looks worse then the drivers as it is all rusty and not shiney but drivers side looks shiny. as hence why I thought something was wrong.

Anyone have any ideas to issues?

Thanks any help welcome.

how far is the piston moving out?
the disc that is rusty - is it rusty both sides?

during use the pistons don't have to move more than a couple of mm

if one side is moving out a long way (maybe 10mm or more) there won't be enough fluid in the system to make the other ones move.

you say the passenger side piston moves, and the passenger disc is rusty - the side thats not working correctly should be the rusty one

usually it's the outside that gets rusty when the cars been standing (overnight etc) if it doesn't clean off it's usually down to the caliper sliders sticking (unless you've got 4 pot calipers - I've not looked at a GTC brakes)

Well on the 'Shiny' drovers side the piston comes out all the way. (I don't press to. Much as don't want it to pop out). The rusty passsenger side was not coming out at all.

The pic attached is of the rusty side.

For anyone interested it did turn out to be the ABS pump. Had it replaced with recondition and all was working fine again
