I use Turtle Wax liquid, I know it's a very ordinary choice but it really is good stuff, and I've been using it since the 1980's.
If you wax your car just twice a year in spring and autumn, that'll be enough to keep it looking good if you're short of time.
Wash it at least fortnightly by hand using a wash & wax shampoo, and clean your wheels & tyres every wash - I use an unused paint brush.
Important to remember to wash under wheel arches with a hose & under the body too if there's been salt on the roads.
