Negative camber - Cameron UK - 22:nd-Jul-2014

As u all will know, my car is a cat d write off, the only problem with it is that it's got negative camber which can't be adjusted, it's not too bad, it's still JUST within parameters but I want to fix it.

What would I need to replace? Not bothered about cost, gonna be keeping the car anyway, it made my last set of tyres wear unevenly,

Here is an exaggerated picturE of what's happening, you can't notice it on the car.

Where the strut bolts to the hub, get someone to elongate the upper hole. Then it should be a case of just loosening the bolts and altering the wheel angle while it is on the wheel aligner. When all set, just tighten the bolts.

Job done, in theory......

Your correct, it aint adjustable, hence the reason to do what I mentioned. Then you now have adjustment.

The bolts are the 2 at the bottom of the strut. It would be the upper of the 2 bolt holes you make bigger. That way it will pivot on the bottom bolt and the upper one can 'float' around altering the camber.

my front tyres are also wearing on the inside ??

i have to agree with kevin i am not sure if it is just the way the astra j sits and it has negative camber

or in my case it just may be as i have stepped up from 17 to 19,s

have a look at this cam gives you an idea of what to do
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sr6rc3RH6Q

but as kevin said you would need to make the top hole bigger

What would be causing it? The suspension?

Gonna get a set of these, rang them and they said they would work

i will move this info over to mechanical how to as it is usefull info.

Negative camber - Cameron UK - 28:th-Jul-2014

Thanks tucpal, yes this works if you have too much positive OR negative camber

Negative camber - tucpal - 28:th-Jul-2014

i will get some when i get it lowered as the 19.s are already wearing out on the inside so i think this needs to be done asap

Rather than a camber tool, if your just doing it once you can use a normal good quality spirit level

Negative camber - tucpal - 28:th-Jul-2014

maybe but i will buy the correct tool for the job
but i will get the cheapest of course
i wont skimp on the bolts though

Yeh I got the eibach ones, they are quite good actually, thaT tool isn't a bad price

Negative camber - tucpal - 28:th-Jul-2014

you may as well do it properly for that price and you can check when you have your wheel off for brake maintenance etc so you know they're true.

Negative camber - cornishtaz - 29:th-Jul-2014

Looks like a good idea but I still prefer to pay the extra and get the car 4 wheel laser tracked and camber adjustment after lowering

Camber isn't adjustable on the 5 door that's the problem

Negative camber - tucpal - 7:th-Dec-2014

i will be getting a camber bolt kit
to make sure everything is in line after the car was lowered
but does anyone know what the factory spec camber setting is on the astra j ??
