Maybe a silly question but should they be auto wipers or are they the standard ones.
I would be looking at relay , switch wiring , rain sensor if you have one and wiper motor.
Any fault codes present?

Hi JP,

They are standard wipers not auto unit checked the relay and no change and obviously changed the battery but another thing is the start stop system won’t work either which is symptomatic of a dud battery but since the change of battery this hasn’t started working either so I am a bit stumped

Did you fit an AGM battery for the stop start .

What year is the car?

Did you get any other codes when the AA checked?

It’s a 2011 model Astra J 5 Door

The battery is AGM

No other codes present on AA system

If I was a gambling man I would start with the switch , then I think it goes to bcm and out to motor. Do you have anything else that isn't working?

Wipers - Camdragon94 - 19:th-Nov-2019

Just the parking sensors but I believe that will be down to me breaking one and it been off the car, when I put it in reverse it just tells me to service parking assist but that’s the only other thing that isn’t working

That will be right it will know 1 is missing.
Easiest thing first be look inside bcm check it's got no water damage.
Then if you know someone with another astra try a switch.i would say more than likely a wire issue but it's difficult without seeing it.

Try this link it explains slot

No worries, makes some sense with the reading

RE: Wipers - Rusty2009 - 20:th-Nov-2019

I would say switch also, but without running any tests I wouldn't like to say 100%.

As to stop start there are so many requirements for it to work it's a very common thing people saying it doesn't work There is a thread on here & I did put a link into the workshop explaining the Stop/Start system https://www.vxoc.org.uk/forum/Thread-What-would-cause-stop-start-to-not-work

Hi guys, just a quick update, wiper stalk has been replaced, also the wiper motor has been replaced with no results I think the only option now is to get BCM reprogrammed at vauxhall

RE: Wipers - Rusty2009 - 8:th-Dec-2019

are there any codes stored on the BCM

Wipers - Camdragon94 - 8:th-Dec-2019

Hi rusty I have used a cheap reader and cannot find any going to ring an auto electrician or take it vauxhall for diagnosis

RE: Wipers - Rusty2009 - 8:th-Dec-2019

Yes cheap readers don't tend to pull up any codes.

once you've got a proper read post back here, and we can work from there.

If there are loads of errors logged on the BCM it could point to the BCM being faulty (but that would normally lead to more dash error messages mileage not displaying etc).

Just as a side thought have you checked all the earth points are good?

If you want to save money you can get yourself a nice little op-com which will read the codes.
I always advise buying from here (you can buy from ebay but they won't have any higher version than this guy)
