The new model astra: my time with astra has ended - umognog - 3:rd-Jul-2019

Being in the market for another car, I read with interest that PSA has announced an engine & tech refresh to the Astra.

I love my J, it's an amazing workhorse.

So I was very, very disappointed to read the engine options from PSA:

Petrol - 1.2 & 1.4, all 3 cylinder options
Diesel: 1.5 unspecified cylinders.

Well. I was looking at a petrol, as it's a city short journey runner, but I despise the 3 cylinder. Had one before and never, ever again! Bugger that.

Didn't think I would say this, but when the J gets scrapped in the future, it's by by Vauxhall & thanks for 25 years of driving.

Hi just been through this myself when my wife corsa of 12 years needed more money spending on it than it was worth as a trade in now I am the man who said he would never buy another ford has long as I lived but having looked at new corsas then the new fiesta 1litre turbo Vauxhall are so off the pace the fiesta although a three cylinder is a cracking motor

I was burned by a 3 cylinder basically rattling itself into a new cat every 2 months. Find them horrendous.

I will not be buying another vauxhall.

French cars have always been poorly built and now vauxhall is part of the PSA group they will be built with rubbish french parts.

I also want to add: finnicky to DIY fix!

I mean really, the size of a Citroen picasso is almost that of an adult hippo, but the battery is under the passenger seat?

some car makes have funny design ideas, on our little Fabia you have to remove the battery to check/top up the power steering fluid!

For me since the Adam came out Vauxhall ruined their cars as every car is now styled off the horrible looking Adam.

Also the fact they dropped the 2.0CDTi engine for a 1.6cdti.
