Auto-reverse mirror positions - umognog - 20:th-Mar-2019

Hi all,

I'm looking at if/how to add in auto-adjustment to the side mirrors whenever the vehicle is put in reverse to point further towards the ground (well, any user preset position recorded.)

Does anyone know the types of motor used in the mirrors already? Need to figure out if I need to add input sensors, or if the motor is a step-control and I can read the step info instead?

There have a been few people do the modules for them the one brought is massive (I would say a prototype) I tested it but never fully fitted it.

I know it doesn't answer your question tho.

@umognog, easiest way to fit this feature is retrofit Insignia's seats with memory. They have options to auto-adjust mirrors to driver (1 of 2 position) or last position assigned to your key.

Yeah it is possible to do that .
Look at attached photo.

1 - auto-adjust (move down) mirror when reverse gear put in.
2 - fold mirrors by remote control

At the moment i have Insignia's seats fitted into my car. I am working at retrofit Insignia's mirror motors in Astra's rearview mirrors. They are compatible but I need to add 4 wires to mirror positioning circuit.
