2016 Astra K GTC Malfunction Light Question - ed-b - 27:th-Oct-2018

Hi Everyone

I could do with some advice to help with an issue that has just surfaced.

I started my Petrol GTC this morning (27/10/2018). The warning lights came on as normal and then all went our except for the Yellow Engine Warning Light. This light stayed on. The car seems fine to drive. It has done 13,010 miles, had a full service 4 months ago and has been sitting in the drive for the last 3 weeks doing nothing while I recover from an operation. The oil level is fine. I have checked and there doesn't appear to be any loose connections under the bonnet.

The Owners Manual suggests a fault in the Emission Control System. I tried the pedal test but it appears that Vauxhall don't support this in the series K astras. Has anyone else come across this and, if so, can you tell me what the likely causes are. Is it possible that the cars emission system has been adversely affected by me not doing many miles recently ?

All ideas would be gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance,

Ed

The only way of telling what the problem is is to plug it into a diagnostics computer. As its a 2016 car it will still be under warranty with Vauxhall so give it to them to worry about and pay for.
Your car will be a J not a K if its a GTC as there was no K GTC.

Hi JW

Many thanks for getting back to me. Thanks also for clarifying the J / K issue. Yes, I think you are right. I'll take it back to the main agent in Leeds and get them to have  a look at it. Strangely, yesterday, the fault stopped for a few minutes during a local trip. The warning light came back on though and I'm starting to wonder whether a loose connection to one of the sensors might be the root cause. Having said that, probably best to take it back to the main agent and let them check (and hopefully resolve) it.

All the best

Ed
