How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 25:th-Apr-2014

Here is a How-to Led Number Plate Lamps
for the Astra J 5 Door Error Free.

They can be Found on ebay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-LICENSE-NUMBER-PLATE-LIGHT-VAUXHALL-OPEL-CORSA-C-D-ASTRA-H-J-INSIGNIA-VECTRA-/181596661960?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a480128c8

Here are the SMD LED Light Units and Load Resisters you will Receive
The LED Light Units have 18 SMD LED,S in Each Light Unit.

They are a very Good and a Well Made Light Unit
that are Plug and Play
the fit is Perfect and they are Error Free.

Start by fitting the Load Resisters
Plug them into the Light units.

STEP ONE.........

Remove the old Light Units from the car
by Pushing back the Clip
and Pricing the old Light Units out.

Undo the Connectors from the old Light Units.

STEP TWO...........

Now you have the old Light Units out
Remove the Bulb by Twisting them out and Remove the Bulbs
and Connect the new SMD LED Light Units to them.

STEP THREE.........

Connect the new Connector on the new Light Units
back on to the Connectors on the car
and Test that the Light Units work
if not Turn the Connector around then it will Work
but it should be Red on the new Light unit to Yellow Green on the Connector
and Black to Black.

STEP FOUR.......

There is no Real Need to Glue the Load Resisters to the Light unit
as they do get Very Hot and may Melt if you do this
Do not glue them to the Bumper they will and can Cures Damage
Again They get Very Hot.

So the best way is to Zip Tie them up like the in the Picture
then Simply Push them in too the Hole for the Light Units
and Refit the Light Units back in place
then get Under the Bumper and Pull the Load Resisters Down
then they will Just Hang from the back of the Bumper in the Air
They will not move about Much
and they will not be Touching Anything.

RESULTS.......

The results are Amazing
And they are so much Better than the Standard Light Units
they are Super Bright
and there will be no Canbus Errors.

Absolute first class Product
and i Highly Recommend them
SMD LED Light Units i love them.

AS WITH ALL ELECTRICAL HOW TOO,S.
you do this at your own risk if you follow the how to correctly
there should be no problems thank you.

How do you remove the other section that's connected to the body of the car not the boot?

Behind the light from inside the boot you need to open the flap and there are 2 butterfly bolts you undo with your hands, don't drop them, then gently pull the light out, there are 2 clips that hold it in place

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 24:th-Feb-2015

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 24:th-Feb-2015

get back to you on this one

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Rusty2009 - 25:th-Feb-2015

Then lamp in the estate fits the Zaffy C and looks slightly shorter than the 5 door one.

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 25:th-Feb-2015

the led ones fit the Astra h j and the insignia but i does not list the estate

You could modify the origanl lamp to hold a LED bulb and add a load resister

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Rusty2009 - 25:th-Feb-2015

I would look on eBay for a cheap unit from a 5 door and try it out if it fits then buy the LED ones

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 25:th-Feb-2015

you could add two LED bulbs

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-T10-CANBUS-5630-6-SMD-LED-ERROR-FREE-501-194-W5W-Car-Side-Wedge-Light-Bulb-/301486216066?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4631fa9382

and two in line led loads resisters
they just plug in to the origanl light connectors and then put the bulb in the other end
and plug them into the origanl number plate unit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T10-W5W-501-LED-Error-Canceller-Canbus-Free-Wiring-Adapter-/201294048395?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ede0f6c8b

you would need to mount the load resisters to something metal and not plastic
if you mount them on top of the light units but use a metal plate on top and use heat resistant boning glue
you may have to slightly modify the hole for the bulb that will depend on the bulb fitment

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - WhelanUK - 25:th-Feb-2015

Couldn't you just measure the dimensions of your current one and we can compare to ours?

WhelanUK Wrote:Couldn't you just measure the dimensions of your current one and we can compare to ours?

Now why didn't I think of that good shout mate.

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 16:th-Apr-2015

Was looking to just get some of the SMD LED bulbs instead of the fancy, very bright ones used in the tutorial but just wondering why a load resistor is needed?

Nvm, think I know why now. Would flicker from what I can tell if it didn't have the load resistor in place. May have to look into getting some of these to complete my led conversion

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - WhelanUK - 16:th-Apr-2015

They would bring errors up mate.

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 16:th-Apr-2015

as above the ones in the post only cost £10 ish and are plug and play error free and they also look fantastic

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 16:th-Apr-2015

Thanks guys, and yeah they do look really good! Very bright though...are they legal? ha

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 16:th-Apr-2015

never had a problem plenty of times the old bill has been behind me and no problems at all

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - WhelanUK - 16:th-Apr-2015

Never had a problem either. Don't think the police could ever say the number plate is not illuminated enough haha

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 16:th-Apr-2015

Hahaha yeah, would just say that to them if they pulled me over...that it can never be too well illuminated lol. Thanks then guys, I'll get some next month they're £16 but do look pretty good

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 16:th-Apr-2015

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 18:th-Apr-2015

No one had any issues with the load resistors just dangling there behind the bumper then?

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - WhelanUK - 18:th-Apr-2015

No issues, cable tied them and they just dangle behind the bumper

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 18:th-Apr-2015

Fair enough! Was just thinking they would get wet or banged around

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - bhalay207 - 22:nd-Apr-2015

Can't wait, I want to change fog light to a 2nd reverse light and add fogs to reflectors, is there a thread on how to do it? I seen the LEDs added to reflectors thread.

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Tonto - 25:th-Apr-2015

Cheers mate,

I meant a how to for the 2nd reverse light, I'm guessing not too difficult but I'm a novice haha, wouldn't even know what wire to buy

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - cornishtaz - 25:th-Apr-2015

You need to buy the reverse light unit from a European car

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Tonto - 25:th-Apr-2015

Ah right, will look in to it properly when I get the money, got some other things I'd like to do first thanks baz

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 4:th-Oct-2015

Done! Have the resistor hanging just below the metal crossbar. Won't cause any issues will it?

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - WhelanUK - 4:th-Oct-2015

No wont cause any issues, how I have mine.

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Tonto - 4:th-Oct-2015

Hmmmm sure I can hear it rattling around while I'm driving!

How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Tonto - 4:th-Oct-2015

Maybe move the cable tie closer to the connectors so it hangs a little lower and misses top of bar??

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 4:th-Oct-2015

It was already dangling just below it. Have pulled it down a bit further. See how we get on with that lol

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - Jj0063 - 5:th-Feb-2016

Just fitted these, ordered from the link but I'm still getting errors. Bugger.

Maybe a duff resistor? I'll have to email them.

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 5:th-Feb-2016

i would say so
check the wires are the right way first

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 5:th-Feb-2016

Yep I got the same error with the ones from the link... I've had to remove them anyway to make way for my reverse cam so ordered a set of the Canbus error free bulbs instead... That just slot into the current holder... I mean the ones here give me errors so may aswell give them a try eh even if they don't work

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - tucpal - 5:th-Feb-2016

Ok lads something has obviously changed with the product in the link so I will remove it from the forum it sounds like they are using a lower wattage load resistor as that will not fool the canbus if anyone finds a working link can they post It on here thanks

RE: How-to Led Number Plate Lamps - sheppy1 - 5:th-Feb-2016

Yeah they use a black resistor block now rather than the silver one which must be a lower power one or something [PENSIVE FACE]
